V for Victory is a design based on propaganda posters from World War II. The phrases "Bring 'em Home" and "Buy War Bonds"' were commonly used during those times. Many people know the image of "Rosie the Riveter" who is an icon of the working women of those days who took men's jobs after they went off to war. The figure of this woman is meant to bring about that same iconography and the feelings of the important role women played during that conflict. The V in the Background stands for Victory and was another icon of the day.
