Rubber Duck Themed Baby Shower Ideas

Décor:
Use blue and clear balloons to look like soap bubbles. Turn on a bubble machine if part of your party is outdoors. Ask guests to bring bath time presents & set up a table for display. Decorate with streamers and of course with rubber ducks!

Food:
Buy a new metal wash basin for an old-timey bathtub punch bowl with floating rubber ducks or rubber duck floating candles. Use blue Hawaiian punch or dye lemonade or a clear drink. If the wash basin is too large set a stainless steel bowl in the rim, support underneath with wooden blocks if it doesn't hang securely on the basin rim.

Fill a clear glass fishbowl with goldfish crackers. Buy special colors of m&m's, make duck shaped cookies and a duck or bathtub shaped cake with mini ducks or duck candles floating on top.

Games:
It's fun to go crazy with a theme – alter traditional games to have something to do with ducks or bath time. Here are some of our favorite ideas:

The Water Break Game: The day before the shower, freeze tiny plastic rubber ducks, plastic babies, mini pacifiers, or similar items in ice cube trays. Give each guest an ice cube in a clear cup with water or other drink. The first person whose ice melts so that the frozen object floats freely in their cup shouts, "My water broke!" to win the game.

The Memory Game: Place items related to bathing & taking care of a baby on a tray or in a baby bath tub. Here are items you can include (all of which can be given to the mother after the game): wash cloth, diaper pins, tweezers, fingernail clippers, cotton balls, cotton swabs, baby wipes, travel size baby shampoo, baby brush, travel size baby oil, bath toys, nasal syringe, hooded towel, diaper, onesie, sleeper, pair of socks, etc. Show the tray to the guests for about 15 to 30 seconds depending on the number of items. Remove the tray and have guests write down the things they remember. The person who remembers the most items, wins.

Baby Food Guessing Game: Purchase several jars of different varieties of baby foods, including fruit, vegetable & mixed varieties. Cover or remove the labels and replace with numbered duck shaped labels. Make sure to record the contents of each jar as it corresponds to the number before you forget what's in it. When you're ready to begin the game, give each guest a sheet of paper and a pencil, then open the jars. Let each player examine each jar of food, smelling, or tasting if they like to guess the food variety. The player with the most correct guesses wins.

Baby Shower Game Statistics: Prior to the shower create a worksheet with questions which might include: date of birth? time of birth? baby's weight? baby's length? color of hair? sex of baby? (if not already known) people will say he/she looks most like who? Also ask for the name and contact information of the person guessing especially if you have unfamiliar or out of town guests. Distribute the worksheet to each guest at beginning of shower, and collect before they leave. Once the baby is born, the hostess should determine which guest had the greatest number of answers completed most accurately. That guest receives a gift.

Buy bubble blow, make candles with mini silver tubs filled with blue wax and a tiny yellow duck floating on top. Hand out duck shaped cookie cutters - anything yellow, blue, duck shaped or girly will do!
